Learning Environment
I created a website to outline the learning environment I hope to create in my classroom. I made multiple pages on my website to show different ideas and strategies. I included a little about myself and which schools I attended because students and parents should get to know me to build a relationship. Creating a rules and expectations page states what I expect the students do and what rules they have to follow. The next page goes over the rewards for excelling in the classroom and the consequences for breaking any of the classroom rules. The procedures page informs students of the basic standards of the classroom. I then included a page on my instructional style and the strategies I intend to apply to the classroom. This ensures parents and students are aware of the way I will be teaching all students. I created a diversity page to explain the way I will be making sure all student feel welcome and included in my classroom. It is very important that all my students come to my classroom without feelings of discomfort. I included a page that lists out all the materials that are needed for each class so there is no confusion on what is needed every day. I made pages that provide students with information about getting extra help in their classes and an area where they can always go to get the links to the practice problems for class.

Standard 4 of the Illinois Professional Teaching Standards is centered around the learning environment and through this website, my goal was to create a clear outline of what I expect my classroom learning environment to look like. I want to provide students and parents/ guardians with open communication to be ready and available to discuss anything. I want to create a safe and healthy environment that maximizes student learning (IPTS, 4I). As an instructor, an aspect of my classroom that I want to create is to analyze the classroom environment and make decisions to enhance cultural understanding, mutual respect, positive relationships, student motivation, and classroom engagement (IPTS, 4L). I also understand that my classroom learning environment will need to adapt over time based on working with different groups of students and parents/ guardians each school year.

I learned to have a clear understanding of what my classroom will be like before I step into it for the first time. Creating and reflecting on things such as my rules and expectations are vital in creating a classroom that students want to come to. I learned how I want my classroom learning environment to be to provide the best opportunities for student to be successful. I want parents/ guardians to look at my classroom and want to engage with me and people that are involved with their child's education. My goal is for all students to succeed not only in the classroom, but in whatever they choose to do in life. The classroom environment I provide will be a major factor in whether my students have a positive and enriching learning experience.
