Diversity in the Classroom
I believe that the best way to solve ignorance is through understanding and exposure. If needed I will address diversity in a respectable way. I will give appropriate examples, provide learning opportunities about other cultures. I will allow students to express their feelings as long as they are appropriate and respectful of all others.

Culture & Race
I will encourage non-white and non-majority culture students to be open and share their culture with the class. As there are months that celebrate our cultural difference come up throughout the school year, I will allow students to share and express their culture. I want all of my students to be proud of their cultural background and for everyone to learn and understand cultures that are different from their own.

English Language Learners
Students who are English language learners will be accommodated whether that is breaking down lessons with simplified tasks or providing translations if needed. My goal will be to reinforce their language skills and to boost their overall confidence with English.

Special Needs & Disabilities
Students with exceptional needs will require differentiation. I will do my best to accommodate their needs and to modify their classwork and assignments as needed. I will adapt to the students who have 504 and IEP plans to the best of my abilities. Communication will be the most important aspect to make sure these student have the best opportunities to be successful.

LGBT+Students
My classroom will be safe for all students. I am very accepting and supportive of students who identify within this group. If a student feels comfortable, I encourage them to talk to me if they choose to do so. I will listen and offer assistance if I can provide it. If I cannot, I will direct students to our school social workers or the appropriate services.
