Classroom Management

When it comes to classroom management, Linda Albert's Theory of Cooperative Discipline can help the students practice self-discipline by allowing them to choose their behavior.  It will boost confidence by allowing the student to feel like they belong and have an active roll in the classroom. This also goes along with Barbara Coloroso's theory of inner discipline.  Students should be treated with respect and given the sense of positive power to be able to learn. Students should learn from their achievements but also from their mistakes. If we can all follow these rules and expectations, we can all have a positive experience in this class!

I will be communicating with parents through the best way they want to be contacted. I will ask each parents to choose what form of communication that works best through email, phone call, texting, or any other form of communication. This is to inform all parents about their child's progress in class.

Classroom Rules/Expectations: Text

Expectations

Participation

I expect all students to participate in all class activities and to respect each other during those activities. I expect all students to follow along and give their opinion or input on all class discussions. Students must respect all other's thoughts and opinions.

Encouragement

I encourage all students to challenge themselves to learn to the best of their abilities. Students are encouraged to ask any and all questions when materials are not understood, do not make sense, or are confusing.

Standards

I expect all students to not cheat and to turn in their own work. Work that is plagiarized will result in the disciplinary actions stated in the school student handbook.

Classroom Management Letter

Dear Parent/ Guardian,

My name is George Lux, and your child is in my class this year. My goal for this school year is to create a safe and inviting learning environment for your child. In order for me to accomplish this goal, I will need you and your child to work with me. The purpose of this letter is let you know about my classroom management plan.

In my classroom, I use a code of conduct which lets the students know how they are expected to behave in my classroom. The code of conduct is very simple and consists of respect yourself, respect others and their learning. I will determine consequences for failure to follow the code of conduct that is based on the disciplinary rules that are stated in the school handbook. Every Friday, I will review your child's progress in class and assist them with any missing work or assignments they have to complete. I will contact you through the type of communication that you choose about any concerns I might have if any.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email me or call me. Also, I am open to any suggestions that you may have to increase your child's learning. I am looking forward to working with you and your child this school year.

Sincerely,

Mr. Lux
